Hi all,
I drive a company car for work and private use now and the poor D2 sits in the shed with not much work to do. My contract is for a couple of years so I wont be doing too many kms in the near future. I think I want to keep the D2 because I love going bush but a new family means I cant do that too much lately. I've noticed that over a period of about 2 to 3 months my airbags go down about an inch. Is this normal? I presume its just the natural rubber letting a bit of air out slowly. They are pretty new bags as I only replaced them last year.
To prevent excessive wear on the bags, should I put the D2 on chassis stands so that the bags dont sit flat for long periods after they go flat over 6 months?
Or should I just sell the damn thing and buy something else in two years that doesnt cost me money to store?![]()

The bags are not the only place where you can have a leak. Once your battery goes flat the pump will not pump up the bags if there is a loss.
When ever I have left the D2a for a long period (two weeks+) and the battery goes flat the first thing to fire up once I put the chargewr back on is the suspension compressor.
If you are leaving it sit without use for longer than a month I would be following a long term storage plan, ie do a complete oil change, engine,diffs,etc rad coolant. Certainly place the rear on stands to take the load off the bags, place axel stands to relieve the weight on tyres, or inflate tyres to maximum recommended pressure, to reduce flat spotting place a trickle charger on battery, because in my opinion the ECU and electronics does not like sitting for long periods without power.
These are just my thoughts on storage. But a fair bit cheaper than selling a devilyou know , then buying a devil you dont

I'd drive it to get the milk and bread once a week if you can store it at home. Keep everything a lot happier then storing not running.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Muchly appreciated. Have though about getting rid of it but anything can have its problems. Plus it is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven. Period. Better than my old man's 200 series sahara (what a POS that is!).
I'll try and use it a bit soon to get wood for the winter. That should hopefully keep everything working![]()
all cars really like to be ddriven aat least once a week and for long enough to get everything up to temperture call it a minimum of 30 k in trip
