Winch powering.

Okay.
Thanks to SWMBO seeing how I had done it and exclaiming "You can't do it like that!" the set up has changed

Cables run up through the Driver side headlight cavity, with two small notches in the plastic cover allowing them to pass through to the battery box.
I've still yet to secure the control box, and as such some of the cables have a bit of slack however once it's all secured I'll cable tie them out of the way.

I'm going to sort out the cuts in the cover so they're more circular and it looks a bit better, but it will do for now

Quick question, as I am in the midst of installing a winch, are you going to run some split tubing later on to protect the cables?

You need to put some rubber grommets where the cable passes through holes. If not, you run the risk of the cables fraying and then shorting.

Get that isolator fitted too!!

It's got an isolator Camel Landy, that's what the black bit on the positive cable is

And it works too!

I'll round the cuts and put some rubber in them too

And get rid of that hard plastic upper radiator line before it snaps off when you touch it and strands you in the bush only able to move 30 metres at a time because the winch is the only bloody thing that works!

Is that an isolator, or a fuse? Unless it's a quick release, I'm not sure you can switch power off at a moments notice?

It's an isolator.
Twist one way and it's on, twist the other way and it's off.
Tried it a few times, and it cuts it out quick sharp

And tell me more about this upper radiator line?

1 - Ingenious! Where did you get it from.
2 - Upper radiator line - assuming yours is the same, its the tube that runs from a small spigot/connector at the top of the radiator inlet around under the radiator top cowling to the "overflow" tank and that gets brittle right at the radiator end and if knocked/broken can cause all sorts of grief with your coolant disappearing. My new friendly/highly experienced mobile LR mechanic (Solihull raised and trained) has just alerted me to the problem and has replaced mine with a better quality rubber hose. I'm sure there are others here that can explain better. Cheers
