2x Add-A-Circuit Fuse Taps for APR/ATC/ATO Automotive Fuses | eBay
Hi All
I've recently installed an Auberins EGT guage Automobile Multimeter for EGT, Boost, Green [SYL-1813G] - $57.50 : auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry and piggy-backed the power to the brake lights wire.
Turned out to be a mistake as when I connected my trailer it blew the fuse ... and no brake lights!
If I buy one of these from Jaycar Wire Tap Blade Fuse 20A - Jaycar Electronics and install inplace of the 20A Cigarette Lighter fuse will that cause any issues?
Any other simple solutions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

Hi Disco EMU
ditto northiam,
I have used them, and for your information
Fuses 24,25,27,28,30,31 are 'ignition on' power sources...
Fuses 15,16,18,19,26,32, are 'accessory on' power sources
Fuses 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,12,13,20 are 'ALWAYS powered on"
Here's what they look like installed

... and installed!
Reviving an old thread here ... 'cause I've still got this issue of blowing the brake light fuse when connecting the trailer!
Now it seems that when I connect the wiring harness or disconnect or even put it in reverse ... the brake light fuse blows.
Also the electric brake controller (Tekonsha Prodigy) is a bit hit n miss. With the fuse blown the trailer brakes weren't working even though it was telling me that there was a connection.
So the current solution is to pull over, replace the 15amp fuse, restart and it all works well until I stop or put it in reverse.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Craig
Some trailer plugs have a reverse light connection. Mine does. It's incredibly useful when backing a long trailer at night. I suggest you take a multi meter to your trailer plug, engage all the light functions one by one and work out which pin is reverse. Then disconnect this pin, either from the harness or the trailer end. Some plugs use this pin for the brake actuators.
Just done a few tests ... definitely when it's put in reverse.
Disconnected the black AUX wire from the trailer plug and ... bingo!
All fixed ... love this forum!
