    How would I identify which door switch is dodgy

    My Car horn has been beeping every time I lock the door for some time indicating that the car still thinks a door is open.

    I imagine I will need to replace a locking mechanism which contains the tiny little switch but how do I identify which of the 5 doors (6 with bonnet) is the culprit?

    I looking for a point somewhere I can get to with a multi meter and test the door switches without me having to dismantle each door to get to the wires.

    I can suggest, perhaps, half a solution. If your interior lights go off 20seconds or so after closing the 5 doors, then the culprit is the bonnet switch. If the interior lights don't go off, then its one of the doors. I'll have to think further on the simple solution for the doors.

    Thanks for the suggestion mundy but the interior lights go off about 10 minutes or so after the doors shut. If the 20 sec applies to the bonnet then it's good to know I can eliminate this.

    I read somewhere that the doors are wired in parallel so it is difficult to tell which switch is not closing the circuit.

    If all your 5 doors are shut, the interior light should go off after 15 to 20 seconds or so. If it does, then there is nothing wrong with the door switches. If it takes 10 minutes (its about 8m from memory on mine), this should happen whether or not your doors are closed. If all your doors are closed and its taking 10 minutes, it sounds like one of the door switches is cactus. As I said before, not sure how to identify the culprit.

    If closing a door causes the switch to go open circuit, then it means you are likely to have a short circuit in a wire somewhere and it may not be the switch. If closing the door causes the switch to go closed circuit (unlikely but someone else here will know) then it is more likely to be the switch.

    That was always my intention but where do you start?

    I know there is a little green button on the locking mechanism but to get to this I would have to pull every door apart which I only want to do as a last resort.

    What i am hoping is that some one might know where I can check that is more accessible such as a fuse box, under the dash, etc
