If your not hearing the solenoid clicking in the rear you could remove the side panel under the cargo bay drivers side window and check there is power getting to it. If it has power then check the solenoid. I think you could manually pull on the solenoid to release the flap.

If your desperate to get the door open give it a good bang near the release pin in the flap with your hand. This will break the plastic clip and should pop open. I glued mine back on with hot glue afterwards or you could by new.
    Cheers, David.

The fuel cap retaining line can foul on the release mechanism preventing the flap from springing open.

After you press the button from inside, if the flap does not open, try gentling prying the flap a bit. If it seems to wants open but wont then you know the fuel cap retainer line has fouled. Nothing to do but pry a bit more.

Happened to me a few times. It always come loose eventually with a bit of jiggling of the flap. When you get the flap open make sure the retaining line is positioned so it does not happen again.

With out trying to sound smart is the ignition off?
The one thing that bugs me is you can't idle down for the turbo and open the fuel door
    Cheers, Kyle

Are the keys set up to open the drivers door only first?

You mean inline with common practice of not fueling up whilst running?

Idle down turbo - 10 seconds.

In other words by the time you've slowed down to turn into the driveway, driven across the forecourt and pulled up in front of the correct pump, you've already "idled down".
