discovery td5 manual 03 cdl retro fit is lighting up auto box temp light. help

so iv just retro fitted a second hand transfer box with the diff lock nipple and the linkage to my 2003 disco manual td5.
plugged in the 2 unused wires what were hanging unused beside the old high and low switch on the same wiring loom. now when diff lock is engaged a red light showing a tempurture symble pops up. (auto gear box temp) i dont under stand as mine is a manual from the factrory and there are no spare wires hang around the gear box area just them two. any ideas ppl? cheers

The trans temp light activates on the auto and the transfer (if fitted), I think that on the disco the sensors were not fitted to the transfer

Mine also has wires just hanging

    Just disconnect the plug

Also, is your diff lock light activating?, you may have the wires on the wrong sender?

Thanks for the speedy reply, I have never seen the diff lock light on the dash not even at start up.. so I'm wondering if it even has the bulb. I'm shore I have read that the 2003 did not have the correct wiring harnessing and that I will need to splice in to a loom under the Center console. hope not! sounds like trouble as I'm no good a wiring. I will have a go swapping some wires round later and see what happens. Can't wait to my get arms covered in prop Grease again will keep all informed cheers

The wires hanging that you hooked up must be for a temp switch that the 03 doesn't have. I've heard rumors that some 03 don't have the connector for the diff lock. Some have had to splice into an existing harness to hook up the diff lock switch.

I've an 02 disco and I had to splice in to the loom to enable the cdl dash light. I just used a scotch clip.

A scotch clip!?? On wiring that is subject to water and all sorts of stuff? NOT a good plan for long term trouble free Disco motoring! You will get moisture in the damaged wire covering and wicking followed by failures.
Do the job properly, soldering at the very least and waterproofing the joint is required. Do not use silicon as it is acidic and corrodes copper.
