    Replacing Air Bags after 10 years?

    Has anyone gone with this recomendation?

    To clarify, you mean the SRS, and not the SLS I assume.

    If that's case, no, I haven't.

    It seems that LandRover has extended the replacement time to 15 yrs. there is a thread here somewhere on it

    I'm not sure how long other countries have been mandating airbags, but here in the US they've required some sort of passive restraint for the driver since 1989 on cars, and by 1998 even light trucks and SUV were required to have dual front airbags. In the more than 20 years cars have been required to have them, I've never personally known anyone that replaced them because the manufacturers recommended service interval passed. I've only seen them replaced because they were either deployed, or because they had failed and the light on the dash wouldn't go out, or otherwise damaged.

    15 years is the recommended period now, but...

    As per the person from the USA states, they have had cars fitted with the air bags for a long time now. (in fact, a US explosive company is the reason they are so cheap and effective). They still deploy and work correctly (ie reduce injuries / save lives) after 20+ years lying dormant and this is in a country that (til recently) used air bags as the primary restraint system.... Also, these are the early versions, where the technology was primitive...
