Disco 2 Drivers side rear door lock problems

When car has been locked by remote, the offside rear door will not unlock when the remote is activated.
Only way to open the door, is to use the inside door handle which is not alw ays convenient, but at least rear seat passengers can get to at any time!

Anyone got any clues as to what the problems may be and the fix required

No EGR / no centre muffler/ SLS removed.

The current fix is to buy a new lock unit for $170 to $250, I'm planning on stripping a few broken units down and determining if and how we can all fix them.
    Cheers

Anyone happen to have the part number for a left hand rear passenger door for a D2a, as I'm going to have to replace mine - any suggestions for reasonable pricing would be welcome too!

Just completed this job today both the right side doors were playing up. The rear for several years had to use the remote about 3 or 4 times to get it to open and for the last couple of weeks the drivers door has not operated by the remote at all. The only way to lock it was with the key in the latch and then when you open the door you had to hop in the back or the passenger side and open it with the inside door handle.

Picked up both locks from FamousFour on the web in the UK. Only took about a week for them to arrive. Possibly other sites cheaper but I was happy with their service and they had a web site that worked for me including answering my emails !

The job would be quite quick if I had to do it again but for the first time it takes a bit of sorting out. There is information on RAVE and also on the Discovery 2 web site again in the UK. The main thing to remember is that you have to remove or partially remove the window frame from both the front and back doors doing this job. Once I realised this the job was a lot easier. There are bolts holding this frame that do not get a mention on the web tutorial so if it is not moving easily there are more bolts to get to.

Also a chance to treat the rust on the window frame of the rear door window while it was all out. Anyway all good now. Just need to get my new D1 ignition lock to a lock smith to get it keyed correctly for my D2 Keys and fit it for my next weekend job!

So I lock assembly disadvantage was repairing some modifications. If you open a small motor, which will probably brush broke. Toy motor (mabuch) brushes exchange only ok! Requires some soldering skills and tools.

I bought a new one for $210 at MR automotive, so my old one will be the first experiment. I'm still interested in receiving some broken units if anyone is willing to post them to me, I'll pay postage.
I'm hoping to find a common fault with them all.
    Cheers Marc.

    Hi Marc,

Did you ever resolve anything with this issue.

    Cheers,

    Rob
