TD5 Coolant Flush and Corrosion around engine/top radiator hose

My TD5 had green coolant in it and I've done a complete flush today and put cleaner in it before I replace with OAT.

First of all, I notice a bit of weeping from the top hose before I did the flush and when I took it off it looks like the attached. Is there a good way to clean this up or should I be replacing it?

Secondly is there a way to get all the water out I flushed with today when I put the coolant concentrate in (i.e. I used the hose pipe to flush so it won't all be distilled water) about 6-7l went back in. Is it just a case of putting a few litres through the reservoir and the top hoses?

Keep an eye on things if your going oat after normal coolant. Oat starts eating away ar scale and stuff. You might find pink stains*(if using pink coloured oat) Oat will find every weak spot in the system, welch plugs, hose clamps, etc.

Thanks for the heads up, yes I've seen a few posts saying similar things, I'm running cleaner through at the moment and have a new set of hoses to fit and replace all spring clips with screw clips but will keep an eye on it too.

The oil cooler may have suffered with the wrong coolant in it
It may be wise to check it before putting the OAT in its a bit of work but its a pain when it goes.
Mine was badly corroded and it had normal coolant in it

Mate, flick it in the bin ASAP?
I had the same, did a bodge job on it.
The top hose slipped off, dropped the coolant. While I didn't cook the motor, I did cook the fuel pump duringthe Xmas -New year hols. So, new pump, tilt tray ride and a few days immobile Versus ~$30 for a new part and clamps.
    Just do it.

Yep, bin it, the part you need should be ERR7097, water outlet housing , TD5. It's a good suggestion to check the oil cooler outlet spigot, as well. While you are at it, check the "secret hose ", connecting the oil cooler spigot to the oil cooler return pipe [ going around the back of the engine] This hose is not in plain sight, except from underneath. You have to remove the turbo heat shield, to get at it, because it's out of sight, it gets forgotten if you don't know it's there. While you're at it, if you haven't already, fit an engine saver low water alarm, worth every cent. Bob

Thanks Bob - it was the engine saver that got me into this mess I fitted it and found I had a leak, so was well worthwhile doing!

I can feel another Paddocks order coming on for a few spares.

P.S - great signature (coming from a second row)
