i have broken 2 standard bars and onto my second steel bar.
the one i have is sold through rovacraft and others, not very strong at the outer ends and this current bar is bent out of shape. it is only bolted in 4 points near the towbar, the outer wings have no support so bend easy.
personally if i could i would get a single piece of box steel run across the back and tucked in around the corners, nothing flash but easier to make.

I agree Liam, I was shocked when I saw how your bar bent! I was even thinking tube bar for the rear of mine

Oh Mr Muppet, how disappointed was I.

By the way, in answer to the question about being a 'proper' D2 offroader now, I answer... Only when you get a proper D2, can you become a proper D2 offroader.

Back to the thread... I have a basic custom made steel rear bar which was fitted by the previous owner. I'll post up some pic's a little later.
Sorry to disappoint Mr Brenno, but the fact that I can drive to sydney and back about 4 times on one tank kind of swayed me.
You see, my girlfriend lives in Sydney, and lets just say that I like visiting my girlfriend

You will be pleased to know that in addition to a busted manual gearbox, I'm also looking for a busted V8 to pull apart, helps me process information about things when I can actually lay hands on it. Shouldn't be a shortage of broken Rover V8s......

I do like Hendriks one, and if I end up making my own the swing away components will be coming from Rijidij, I like to support AULRO people when I can
Will depend on what price I can get on some steel, and when my mate has some time off.
    Cheers

Give it some time... Your attitude will change.

She keeps me on my toes and doesn't bag out the Phantom too much.
That and she's prepared to go out with me, so I can't knock that
Even if she is a Toyota girl....

    We don't!

Ps. At least she lets you have some toys Brenno! Even though you have to sell them sometimes.

Price, pretty simple. (also service for me)

Some of the bars are half the price. $1280 + 168 for postage in OZ.

The same from the UK was $668. Postage allowance of $780 (pretty sure there's some spare change here).

The point of my post was not to buy OS, but to shop around. I use the UK as a guide if buying locally. I have also found the service in the UK excceds the service in Australia.

    Regards
    Andrew

You'd think so, but I knew I had succeeded when she starts pointing out LRs, guessing what type they are, saying what one she would like, etc.
So much so that now even her friends do it.....
