    iPad mount

Anyone got an iPad mtd on the dash? Spoke to the Hema team at the caravan & camping show on the weekend and they said the tablet version was going on sale this week for Easter for only about $120.

Thinking about setting it up but need mounting ideas. Are the RAM mounts the best? What kit? Any others?

I have a RAM mount with the twist lock suction. It's been great. Bought one for my iPhone too now. Easy to fit and easy to remove as I don't want it there all the time!

I'm still waiting for the day that someone makes a headunit that is just a receiver and iPad holder. Use the music app or a custom app on the iPad to control you cars audio...

Fusion and Sony did similar things a few years ago with iPods and iPhones, but never really took off..

    Ram mount.

I have the Ram Mount with suction mount. Very happy with the setup. Also have HEMA maps loaded. Seems to work. I haven't had a chance to do any touring yet but the mapping seems to do what it says it should.

    Cheers

We use the iPad all the time driving and we haven't used a mount because the little dash crevice in the centre is almost perfectly spaced for your iPad when it's inside any of the '360 Cases'.

All you do is fold the case back and put the join side up touching the windscreen (if you're really worried you can 'wedge' the case against the screen, but you don't need to). So doing it this way there's no pressure on the ipad, it fits perfectly, it doesn't move and has absorption at the top via the case and bottom via the rubber thing plus it doesn't block out half your view - the angle is perfect as well...it's almost like the Discovery was designed for the iPad.

    Ram mount

Only option. Reasonable price well made and thought out.

Use them on car, boat and bike.

You can get mounts that fit ram for pads with hard cases like Otter.

My base cost $40 landed from the US.

use the one inch ball joints as a minimum.

I have the Ram mount that attaches to the passenger seat rail next to the transmission tunnel. Great bit of kit...although I had to fix a bungie to the underside of the dash to eliminate some wobble/flex...

Not a great pic but you get the idea

    Hope that helps mate

Here's a couple more I've taken showing the bungie cord. It's thru - bolted into the underside of the dash, you can just get a hand in to back of the dash through the glove box. Another option would be to cut the shaft down so there is less length to vibrate...

    Cheers
