Probably best to go genuine for a HB, not the sort of thing you want crapping out on you. bummer

Just had a peek at the Turner Engineering site and saw the HB they sell is "Manufactured in Australia"

Was there any kind of identifying mark on the balancer or packaging that might help ID the manufacturer??

    cheers

I fitted the britpart one as the genuine was silly money. Seems ok and no problems for 20,000km so far.

    Depends.
Sometimes if you're lucky and have the inclination they can be repaired.
    Mine was replaced at 211k.
At around a grand for a new genuine one, that's something I'm happy the PO passed on

Lucky it did not cause the end of the crankshaft to snap off..... Check for a leak from the power steering pump, eats the rubber in the balancer.

All I can say is BEFORE you fit a new one check for damage on the crank. If you've got no damage you're a very lucky man. If you're worried about the $1100 or so for a balancer, you really don't want to know what it cost me!
Some mechanics will just locktite (there is no key way) a new one on.... which is fine right up until it goes again and you can't get it off! Not sure what the torque setting is for the nut but it's huge. The average home torque wrench won't do it. Get it wrong and you're in for a world of pain.

    Good luck!
