Depends if your happy with a 2nd hand, reco or new short motor. Best case I reckon $6k to have it fitted
I'm looking at a D2a V8 and it's got a possible slipped liner. Its done 190000km. It's had reconditioned cylinder heads, replaced all hoses, radiator, water pump, expanation tank and cap and it still uses some water.
He has omitted it could have a suspect cylinder liner.
If I manage to pick it up real cheap and the engine turns bad, how much would I roughfly expect to pay for a new or recon short motor fitted?
Cheers
Craig

Would suggest you PM Pedro the Swift - he may tell you the extent of his final bill from his experience recently, with a new top hatted block shipped from the UK.
Only way to go is top hat liner 4.6 high compression short engine with an ECU upgrade to suit.
Think about 8.5K minimum if you are driving it to a workshop and they do it ALL.
(Edit:, if your heads etc etc don't actually need any work, and rad is ok etc then 7K would be closer.)

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
I bought a D2a almost the same as you. 180kms, but owner had just done all that. Receipts from workshop (LR specialist) was just under $9k.
Ring Davis Performance Landys at Annangrove. They will fit the tophat liners. They did mine.

Justin, were you happy with there ECU upgrade, I think I read you got one for a client recently.
I recently bought a D2 with 4.6 but ECU was never changed/upgraded so still mapped for 4.0.
I like the mark Adams mapping but a long way to send the ECU.
Looked at haltech but a lot of mucking around with tuning.
I was going to go with Davis tune but a landrover mechanic I was speaking to had a remap done on his 4.6 Rangie and was not impressed by a big flat spot in the middle range. This was done quite a few years ago so was hoping things have improved a bit.
Thanks,
Adam
Just a word on the vehicle. If its the white one on a certain auction site at the moment. It's not a D2a that is in the pictures. It's a 2001 D2 with the D2a lights and bumper retro fitted. Also if you look at the photo of the interior closely you will see its the model without CDL.
That's not to say if you get it at the right price it might not be worth it but its not what it appears at first glance.
No it's not that one. It's about a 1 hr drive from me so if I make a move on it I'll be sure to check it out first
