Td5 Auto - delayed shift out of 2nd
Hi just about to head off on a 1200km drive tomorrow and on the way to fill up the disco the auto starts playing up, first up it did a hard downchange immediately after changing to 3rd on moderate acceleration from 2nd-3rd-2nd in about a second.
Now it has a delayed shift out of second for a few seconds, I stay at a constant 3-3500 for a couple seconds before it shifts.
No lights on dash, drives fine otherwise, forward reverse, and any other changes normal.
The transmission has had a suspected rebuild pending as it slipped a couple hundred rpm on changing into 3rd ever since I bought it (done 278k).
Is it likely to get stuck in 2nd and not change out when Im away? Most of trip is open highway except going through towns.
First time its done this sort of thing, would have been relatively cold (under 3kms of city driving), not sure if it gets better with heat, will go for a drive after dinner and see what happens.
Tried to search but so many problems in threads, didn't find a relevant one.
Cheers
Rob

If the fluid level is okay ..stick some Lucas trans fix in it before you go and enjoy your trip..won't do any harm..
