    Hello,
It makes me laugh everybody bitching about cheap parts...... non genuine ones you take the risk...............cutting corners usually doesn't work

Do not get me wrong we are all looking for a bargain, but when you get burnt it is not the best to blame the vender selling it is you it is you for buying it, take a bit of responsibility so before buying anything think a bit......not only for Land Rovers.

PS. I also have got dud parts in the past .....

Yeah, I know that, but to say something is used in the shop and gives good service whilst it seems not in the real world is a tad misleading.................After all the customer to a large extant does rely on advice given, certainly for items that you may only replace in 200000kms. Why stock an item that does not give 1/2 way service? and in reality it was only a bit over 1/2 a genuine.
As I said in the past have had good service from falcon, holden, and Series aftermarket items, just some of the new stuff lacks.

    Cheers Scott

I was caught once too got only 10000km out of a non genuine pump. I won't do it again . Go genuine..
    Are you referring to us???
Have you ever purchased from us, as we haven't had any claims from you? or is this just stirring the pot because you've stung by another vendor, or is it one of those heard it from my wifes brother inlaw who heard it from some in the pub that heard it from a friend.
If you have an issue with any product we sell let us know. We don't run away.
Getting back to genuine , we sold a Brand New Genuine top hose for a TD5 Disco in Sept, the customer only just fitted it, and advised that the Hose was squirting coolant out of the moulding join at the bleed screw holder.
We replaced it immediately free of charge. Another claim for us to Land Rover for a faulty Genuine part reimbursement.
Don't assume that Genuine is trouble free , because it isn't like anything you buy these days.
Take the Genuine 300TDi vaccum pumps, they crap them selves, the fault was never addressed , so an aftermarket pump came out to to resolve this.
Of course you'd realise that as you sell Genuine parts.

Agree with you there on genuine bits Roverlord, and I must say your service is good , can not complain But then I am not complaining about the service of others either, just saying they could be overlooking a problem in regard to a particular item. Service wise they replaced it instantly, just that where I am and ANZAC day in between means its 3 days to get here! This thread was started to just detail what I did, NOT to start a bad supplier / good supplier debate.

    Cheers Scott

Thank you Ian. It's up my goat when people have a bad experience with a particular product then bag every other product as being the same.

As far as aftermarket parts there are many, Britpart, Bearmach, Eurospares, Airtex, AP BRAKE, VALEO say for eg.some one gets a dodgy Britpart spare and they then bag every other supplier and assume their all the same.

Some sellers inform their customers as to what grade of part is being sold: Genuine, oem or a first tier parts manufacturer, or pattern part.

This allows purchasers to make an informed decision as to what they are buying. I refuse to purchase parts from any seller that does not provide this kind of information.

If sellers flog stuff without giving purchaser this kind of information they have to expect people to lump all aftermarket parts together good or bad.

Whether that applies to Roverlord or not I have no idea.

And afaik forest glen is a ref to a Qld seller.

    Cheers

    Talking Water pumps

HERE'S one for the books: I bought my replacement pump, cheaply, on sale from an aussie vendor. I have purchased from most aussie sites and deal when I have time from the UK as well, being a reasonable distance from a LR specialist I have at times had to perform the delicate and at times frustrating repairs on my D2 on my own. So when it came to replacing the power steering pump and therefor the harmonics as well I decided to replace the water pump too!!! The replacement pump would not fit I managed to crack the housing so I used the old one and just transferred the o rings -----still going strong 12 months later---- I still have a spare in the shed but do not at the moment need to or want to torture myself unneccesarily again,my fingers are crossed,I have no coolant leaks in the area and have learn't something about my D2: if it's not broke don't touch the bloody thing!!!!!!!!!!

My post related to sellers promoting substandard parts . I don't buy replacement parts just because they are cheap. Regarding the water pump that failed after a short time..I asked both sales staff and mechanics at this particular place their opinion . Both assured me they had never had one come back and put them on lots of customer vehicles . Now it seems they're are continuing to sell them and with the same assurances. I have fulfilled my responsibility as a buyer by getting this advice about the parts quality and reliability. Its then the responsibilty of the seller to be bloody honest with me or anyone else. STOP SELLING DODGY PARTS AND STOP SAYING THEY ARE OKAY.
