Wow, wow slow down... You mean 2" is not exactly equal to 30-40mm? :p I'm outraged!
No... I mean lets be sensible. just refer to what something is by a correct definition:
Saying "I fitted a 2 inch lift kit and got 30mm of lift" is just ridiculous!
Or as above... "I compared 2 inch lifts and their heights between brands....."
Based on THAT statement... They all measure 2" lift.......
Unless you get custom made of course.....:D
I think that the term 2" lift is just a generic term for the usual lift that every one asks for based upon what is legal....
Conversation usually goes something like " g'day mate, I'm after a 2" lift for me car....." and the answer is usually like "yeah mate, I can help you there, these springs will get you about x height depending on xxxx"..... So even though it's not a "2 inch lift", it's sorta generally all grouped together as such.....let's face it we don't ring up and say we want a 30mm lift do we? Most of us aren't that explicit.....not unless there is a specific reason for being so.....
But regardless of what brand "2inch lift" :D was purchased in this case, the addition of 30mm spacers on top means he should have somewhat more than 515mm at the htg measurement.
My kings are only about a 25-30 at best, (the bar didnt drop the car much at all) then plus the spacer at 30, thats 55-60mm. Add that to the factory spec at minimum height of 485mm (the -15mm from 500), and that's 540mm.....so something is amiss at 515.....unless his raised springs were infact standard height in the first place?...not meant to carry extra weight like bar etc?
HEY, I didn't want to start a war. Just wanted a simple answer.
I KNOW my 2in lift was a 40mil lift. That wasn't my question. My question was in relation to coils spacers and brake lines.
What's the point of a forum when you can't get a simple answer to a simple question ?????
Several months ago I asked a question about disconnecting traction control. I got a barrage of responses telling me 'why I should not disconnect my traction control'.
My question was "how do I do it ?" NOT why should I NOT do it. I wasn't interested in the pro's and cons of traction control, just how to disconnect it if I wanted to. Does it really matter to other members why I want to do it ?????
I appreciate the input from other members but it would be nice if we all stuck to the point.
Kind regards, Rick,.
Hey Rick..
It's all good mate...there will always be a little transgression and spirited discussion, it is after all, a public arena with many participants.
I'm sure most of the replies about pos or neg comments are meant to be supportive and well meaning.
We do eventually get back to the point........
The brake lines may or may not need extending, but I would replace them with stainless extended ones anyway. I believe you can get some extra length in the abs cables by pulling etc, and apparently you can buy extension cables from the US......but I haven't done this myself yet, so I'm sure someone will chip in with the good oil on this area.
When you've done this, then you will have peace of mind that you won't be straining anything at max travel.
Also there may be castor correction required once you get to the 3" lift area, but I believe under that should be ok, your total lift is under 3 anyway isn't it? (Not including tyres).
There are a few members who have experimented with suspensions and are very knowledgable, including the legal angles.
Pm slunnie, he has a good setup and is usually very helpful.
Hope this helps a bit.

I agree with Kev that the term 2" lift has become a generic term. Most people know it will vary between loads and brands. It is usually specified the amount of lift from the supplier when you purchase.
As for the other heights I quoted on my car I got a bit mixed up between cars. I checked again today. My OME HD springs had sagged to around 520mm so I added 30mm spaces to restor the height to the same as the rear. I had to fit the D1 top plates as the D2 ones had a big rubber centre stopping the spacers seating. This took about 5mm off the height as the D1's are thinner. So the final figure is around 540+mm. Does this make you feel better.
Why you won't get a simple answer...
Because if I tell you how, you do it and something goes bad... I'm liable...
If there's a better solution often it will get suggested.
Dodgy fixes or solutions are often frowned upon when legitimate solutions are often better - safety, performance and longevity wise.
