Well everything is still going well so far:D I have to say im really happy with the fuel economy.I have done 400 km now and only just hit half on the fuel gauge. This would of just about emptied out my D1 V8 by now:eek::p.
I have noticed one thing though.Sometimes there is a slight surge when on light throttle at 80 km/h.Is this normal? I have an EGR removal thing coming soon and some silicon hoses:) I have also bought a TM-4 for the important stuff and a boost gauge to see whats going on.
Where should i connect the line for the boost gauge? Next after that will be an EGT gauge and then probably a remap. My list just keeps getting longer. What i want to do when money isnt so tight:o
Nanocom
2 inch lift
longer shocks
mud tyres
remap
CDL connection
And probably alot more:D
Hmm, 400 is what I get normally by half, and that's with me giving a good caning playing tail gate with an obnoxious Audi Q7 driver who did the same to me at 120.... :whistling:
I used to get a surge at 80km/h that got worse then disappeared, hasn't come back since.
Perhaps check the ECU harness for oil in the red plug :)
I'd put Nanocom at the top of your list, it's probably the best investment any D2 owner can make.
Followed by CDL and the remap :)
I get an on-off "shunt" sometimes when easing off then onto light throttle on the expressway at say 100-110.
I believe it may be the EGR valve opening and closing just on the edge of operation.
The fix is to drive around it and not jusst lightly put the foot down but be a bit more positive.
sseing all my sensors seem to read properly , that is my guess.

I have been giving it a bit of a bootful since i got it as well.Just testing how it all runs :D Yup the nanocom is the first thing on my list to get next.I'm sure it will come in very handy from what i have read on here. And i will check the oil in the harness on the weekend.I think the previous owner had a new injector harness put in.I'll have to check that one out.
After reading about the various retunes possible for EU3, a nagging thought keeps poking up in my mind.
That is ; What use is a retune for more power as it seems that in my use of towing a camper up a big hill when I would want the extra power I couldn't use it because my EGTs would get too high.
I have seen it reported that even with a standard tune the EGTs get high towing on hills.
Aside from the vicarious thrills of showing off by accelerating hard and throwing lots of black smoke as in the other current post, how does a tune change the EGTs downwards so that they are no longer a worry, or do those who have an EGT gauge end up applying about the same power going up a long hill as someone running WFO on a standard tune, limited by their EGTs.
Assuming no other mods like bigger intercoolers, or staright through and bigger exhausts which would tend to increase power anyway.

Gday Sprover I've had 2 x TD5's and they go quite well for a diesel of that size. Depending on what mods have been done and whether its manual/auto etc I think one could expect anywhere from 700 to 950km per tank. My first TD5 I towed a 19ft full height 2t van to Hervey Bay and back to Vic and although I pushed the boundries to the limit was getting 550km out of a tank towing. I consistently got 530 to 550 for around the 80-85litres. I know not a good thing to do but ran it to the fuel light and then quite a bit past that. I had jerry cans if I got into trouble. They really are a remarkable vehicle providing you get a good one. Sorry to rant I just thought it might of been of some interest.
