    rear bumper trim finisher clip

One of the kids kicked the rear finisher on his way out of the boot of the disco and broke the clip on the L shaped plastic trim above the bottom light cluster (part no DQR101090). On closer inspection the clip on the finisher is ok but the grommet like piece that fits on the truck is gone. The clip just flops around in the hole. i can find the part no for the clip (DYC10031L) but what is the part no for the grommet?

Hi Fencepost, Done this a couple of times, once from kids, once from the bush - pretty sure there is only one part, the clip DYC10031L. What looks like a grommet is just part of the clip that has seperated into two bits.
When you get the new clip, you slide it into keyhole part on the trim and (after ripping out the 'grommet' so there is just a hole in the body metal) push the trim onto the body until you hear a loud click - might need a very firm push/tap but only with your hand.
    cheers, bidds

Be aware there is a screw in the front lower side of the trim that holds it onto the body. It is hidden between the trim and bumper. {dont ask how I found it! } I got new clips from Byronix on EvilBay. 10 for $5 or such like. Good to have spares.
    Cheers Scott

    No grommet

My 2002 D2 has no grommet in the body, just 3 holes for clips - 2 facing rear and one on the side. (Plus the screw as mentioned).
I think I got a packet of "Champion" clips at SuperCheap.

Thanks guys, it just didn't look right with a bare hole and the remaining part of the clip looked intact. I will order some clips and see how i go.
Time to stock up on the ones for the rear door panel as i broke a few of them as well while having a fun time realigning after a very strong wind.

If you anticipate doing trim repairs/replacements a really good investment is about $15-20'ish on a trim lever thingy. Looks like a screwdriver handle with a bent shaft and a two-pronged, flat claw - reduces damage to the vehicle and fasteners when prising bits apart and the bend makes the levering effort much easier
