No power up hill 2001 V8

Smooth enough at idle, no go up hill and forget about overtaking

I took it in for a service (so fuel filter could be looked at whilst there) my mechanic now has some variety of diagnostic tool which is great (I dont have to buy one now). He asked me when I ran it out of fuel (I havent, but guessing someone has) and tells me I need two oxy sensors? (drivers side one is knackered heater not working in it, passenger side one is sick) but there are no codes pointing to issues with the MAF or any other component which will cause the symptoms so his best guess is a fuel pump.

    http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?xSearch=WFX101060 (which one btw?)

Also he said he wasn't able to test fuel pressure (is there a way to do that on the D2?

Can someone please point me to the right oxy sensors (search comes up with a lot of items I can make mistakes with) and also some comments on fuel pump, Id like to get away with a second hand one from a wrecker (therefore tested and with some form of warranty) at this stage if possible.

Old purse suffering. Could really have done away with my first speeding ticket the other week (might I ad it was in a zone that was upgraded to the speed I WAS doing, 14 days later.. )

Oh and would I be right in guessing I'm best not to drive it till its fixed as I don't want to cause a misfire or anything else drastic through starvation of fuel?

How many km has it done?

The fuel filter is part of the pump assembly, I would suggest replacement if it has done over 150 000km or so. For my money I wouldn't even consider a second hand one.

I have successfully used AU Falcon oxygen sensors ($60 ea) on a D2, you need to cut the plugs off the old sensors, then crimp join and heat shrink the connections. There are universal sensors available that come with waterproof screw connectors. Sadly most mechanics would lack the knowledge to do this quickly and easily.

As for the fuel pump, I assume the pump assembly is very similar to a late P38 and that repair has been written up on the forum.

does it cough and splutter when going up hill,If not possibly not starving for fuel.Perhaps try cleaning the maf sensor very carefully with the maf cleaner sold at cheap auto stores,be very carefull as you do this as you can destroy the wires inside[some will tell you not to clean but it hasn't hurt mine].

mechanic has ruled out maf issues. Does not cough or splutter as such .. more a judder if I put the foot down. If I do my normal dawdling its not noticeable

Ex bendigo land rover want to charge me $749 for fuel pump and $350 for EACH O2 sensor..

    Any better ideas?
Is this the right fuel pump for 2001 D2 V8 http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.ph...200&currency=7

Yes,that is the correct part number. As was said b4 falcon o2 sensors work and r a lot more affordable. Going with an aftermarket pump brand can be a little problematic in regards durability. You may get 3yrs or 6 weeks! I find these good to deal with and give you a choice. Superceded Land Rover Part WFX101060

Did he check plugs, leads and coil packs? First place I would look for misfire under load.

I have enough confidence in him to assume he had...(if not then I have a spare pump :/)
Unfortunately he is away the rest of the week and Id like to have a fuel pump waiting for him by the end of next week. Really would like some ideas on who you consider reliable and decent suppliers.

I would suppose the O2 sensor is less crucial at this stage and I can wait until he returns to ask him whether he thinks he can handle the AU sensor conversion. Does using the AU one cause any interference with future diagnostic tool readings? aND DID you purchase those from Ford or someone such as repco etc

    Thank you
