Good to hear mate! Was wondering how you all got on, glad it went well.
I'll be back there next year to give it another go.

And yes, confirmed a new head required. . Cracked at back of head along the fuel rail. AMC Turner being fitted.

Not that I would wish it upon anyone, but I feel solace in the fact ere was a 200 series LC in Coober Pedy as well with a done head gasket. It could have been one of three types, only one in Australia but e head had to come off to find the right one and then a three week wait from Japan. Holiday ruined as well.

And stayed with friends in Horsham with a 3yo Prado. Crossing west gate bridge clutch (manual) vanished. Blown slave cylinder and assorted cracking on gearbox. Month long wait for parts, and about the same cost as my new head!!

Hey sorry to hear about the head and the holiday, If it helps AMC are a good brand though. One of my customers was on his way to the Kimberleys and ended up with the same problem in NSW...Not happy Jan.

It just shows that the 'other' makes suffer failures too, some worse and not fixable for weeks, AND not many get to hear about it....

In 2002 we put the fan through the radiator core 120 km north of Oodnadatta. Spent a wonderful night and day there before chartering plane to come up from William Creek to fly us up to Alice. Caught the big plane home. Car was transported to Adelaide for new radiator.
The whole exercise cost a bomb, but we had a lot of fun.
