    A/C Drier

    G'day Chaps,

Can anyone tell me how do you know if your Drier is on it's way out?

My A/C, just recently is sometimes okay but occasionally blows not as cold as it should. Just wondered if it was the drier affecting it.

Pressure is good, as is the condenser fan and compresser.

    Cheers, Jerry

The drier is there to remove any moisture that maybe in the system, but ALL A/C systems should be dry before any refrigerant is charged.

So the question is have you ever had the system recharged? If so was it done correctly? If not there could be moisture in the system which has saturated the drier allowing excess moisture to freeze at the TEV under some conditions causing poor cooling.

Do you need to replace the drier, NO.

Get a responsable licenced tech to recover, pressure test & repair any leaks, correctly evacuate the system and then correctly recharge it again.

A deep vacuum will dry the internals of a dryer.

Check the condenser radiator is clean. From there see if the compressor is clutching in and out like it should.

    Thanks for the answers.

I had the system recharged about 18 months ago, it had obviously not been used for sometime.

It's just very recently noticeable that it not always as cold as it should be sometimes.

On Saturday I drove about 15ks and it worked but not I feel as normal. Parked the car for a while, jumped back in started it up and then the Ac felt normal. Same thing has happened over the last few weeks.

    Will check the clutch

    Cheers Jerry
