Your help please D2 Brains Trust

Recently a friend purchased a D2 from the forums and we are trying to track down the last few little things to have it going 100%.

    They are -

    1. Its a TD5 auto but we have had it on a nanacom and the ecu is saying its a manual and we cannot change it to auto. It has been re-engined but I cannot confirm if the ecu is a manual one, is there a way by serial No to determine this ?? or are we doing something wrong to change it to auto ?

    2. The SLS light comes on at the startup "test" but when activated via the SLS button it doesnt, any ideas ? and yes the car raises and lowers.

    3. The glow plugs light and the M and S lights are not working could the M and S lights be because it thinks its a manual ? as for the glow plugs I dont know.

The car is in great nick and drives a dream just want to sort a couple of nigglies.

    TIA Dazza

    1) There isn't a Auto/Manual setting in the Engine ECU. The settings show what options are configured by the particular variant/fuel mapping that is loaded into the ECU.

Check the part number on the end of the ECU opposite the harness plugs. It should be NNNx00x30 if it's a reflashable Td5 ECU for an Auto. If it's an MSB prefix perhaps you can post and let us know what the number is.

If you have an NNN500030 or NNN000130 ECU fitted you'll be able to solve this issue by loading the correct factory map. Anything else will likely require a replacement ECU to fix this issue.

    2) & 3) Check the settings in the BCU. Sounds like the Instrument Pack settings are up the creek. You can set Transmission, and Engine types in this section plus enable SLS warnings, so check these are set correctly. Transmission type is also set under the TRANSM-LOCK-WARN section in the BCU module, so worth checking there too.

    cheers

If the IP AND BCU have been swapped I would be suspicious about the true km travelled....I have a customer who bought a D2 to discover through tracing it back to the original workshop that worked on it that it had actually covered an extra 123,000km The BCU and IP had been changed for a lower km pair.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Unfortunately with the current Nanocom's you don't even need to do that. All that is needed a donor IP with a low KM's reading. Plug in the donor IP, sync the BCU to the ODO, plug in your original IP and sync the ODO to the BCU. You now have a low km D2.

The ease which this can be done makes sighting a log book which matches the VIN and verifying this with the workshops which stamped the book absolutely essential.

You can also reprogram the k's in both using a Nanocom in the right way

In my D2, (V8, auto) you can change it manual/auto. It's in (from the main menu) Motronic (so try TD5), BCU, transmission/alarm/warn page 9.

From the nanocom BCU downloadable PDF; http://web.nanocom.it/download/VALEO...DISCO%20II.pdf :

    TRANSM-LOCK-WARN

    Tr
ansmission: Configure the BCU for either Automatic or Manual.

The ECU reads this (and other settings) from the BCU. Which is why swapping ECU's and BCU's etc is not just plug and play and also needs a nanocom and someone who knows what they are doing. Also the Nanocom download pages are essential reading/carrying.
