    D2 Steering linkages

Are there any opinions out there on available steering linkages for the Disco2?

Mine have worn ball joints at the moment, and the tie rod is slightly bent. Looking to replace them to tighten up the steering, and wondering if standards are the go, or aftermarket ones? I've seen some pics of the Terrafirma links that look heavier duty and I think my have both ball joints being replacable, but are they good or are there better alternatives?

Of course! Thanks very much for this! The links look good. I'll find out if they still mount the steering damper and work on RHD.

You're welcome mate. I like the look of stainless steel and solid too. I guess a quick email to RTE should find the answer. I will change mine out in the near future and will also more than likely go for the RTE ones....

    More options

There are a few RHD HD links and rod options from UK
    Qt services

    Brit part HD

Sumo bars I can recommend these I had a set on my NAS Look 90 trials motor.
Trashed two bash plates which caught on drag link when they bent(stumps)
Fitting HD links and rods gives move clearance.

Best to have clamp type steering damper mounting and use GKN greasable TRE's

Thanks for these Pete! I'll check these out too. Has QT and Brit part HD got a good reputation for strength and quality over there?

The QT and Brit part ones look good too. The Sumobars also look good, but his website is pretty rough.

    Hi Slunnie

The Qt's and Sumo's both very common for use on trials ,winch challenge
hill rally and comp safari prepared LR based motors,
And used by teams I know who smash up lots of steering and drivetrain.

Sumo's maker site is not the best but very good gear based on lots of competition he was one of best in winch challenge where prep counts.
Will help and advise not just sell.

They are exceptionally cheap, working out to about $100 + postage, but I read another post by you saying they are quite good.

As a comparison, Maxidrive is $640 + post from MR Automotive, OE is $440 + post from MR Automotive and RTE (Rovertym) is $592 delivered (conv .93) from Lucky8.

The price is why I decided to give them a go.

What is the steering rod? From what I can see it's just a sold tube with a threaded hole on the end for the the tie rod end. The Paddocks price is a realistic price for what that item should cost. The others are very expensive in my opinion when you consider what you actually get for the price.

The only comment I will make on the Paddocks units the the included tierod ends are bottom of the range quality wise - but if that's a concern the extra dollars saved can be put towards a higher quality setup. I haven't had an issue with them and am waiting until I do before I will replace them.

If you just want some replacement OEM ones I probably have the ones I removed still and your welcome to them.
