D2a bumper on D2 - need grille too?

    Hey guys,

I've been struggling to find a bumper or bullbar for my D2, but I did manage to get hold of a D2a bumper. It was cheap enough that if I can't make it work, I'm not stressed however I'd like to try!

It looks like the centre section is raised higher on the D2a bumper than the D2, which suggests I'll possibly need the grille too.

Are the grilles a straight bolt in/out job? Is the D2a grille compatible with the D2 headlights? (I can't afford to do the headlight changeover )

Hopefully it will be as simple as tracking down a D2a grille and throw the D2a bumper on!

The bumper is a swap over fit. I do not think the grill swap is required except for cosmetic purposes. I am pretty sure the grill has some D2a specific fastening points, not positive on that though . Dads cousin did the swap of bumper and as far as I know left the grill in.
    Cheers Scott

    Cheers for the reply!

I did find this after posting...

    fitting facelift bumper/lights

Looks like I might just need to trim my one. Would ideally like to change the grille for the cleaner look... and I'll likely stuff up the trimming!

Are you looking for a stock D2 bumper?

I just took mine off. It's in the garage collecting dust right now...

Haven't been able to find one anywhere and now you speak up haha!

I think postage to Melbourne wouldn't be cheap otherwise it would be an option!

Hopefully I just need to trim the grille and I'll be right. Thanks for the offer!

If you're in no rush... I'm sure an AULRO courier could be an option.

Cheers for the offer! I sourced a D2a bumper for $50 off Gumtree!

Bit of mucking around to get it to fit, trim the centre grille, trim the headlight trims, also tried to make the install look as factory as possible so modified the inner guards to fit up perfectly (the D2a bumper has more clearance).

All in all, nothing that a regular slightly mechanically minded person can't do. I'm not at all a mechanic or a fabricator!

Tools I used were a 13mm socket and ratchet, 13mm ratchet spanner, phillips head screwdriver, hacksaw and a 6mm drill bit and drill.

Need to source some fog lights and a headlight washer!
