    water in air suspension compressor,

trying to work out were the water came from that was in the 2 year old compressor that i have just replaced, have checked the filter behind the tail light, which seems okay, probably better to move it into the cab,What is the round plastic canister mounted onto the chassis near the compressor that the lines actually do,I have tried to gently remove it but as it is feeling a little brittle i am reluctant to force the issue,is it necessary. With the water and the high humidity of Darwin i suspect condensation could be a problem here, anyone else from the tropics have any problems.

That thing is a silencer. I trashed my compressor recently when the plastic spigot connecting to the compressor inlet cracked and broke off. Not obvious and I did a few river crossings while it was broken.
Easy to repair with a 4mm hose barb but by then the compressor was stuffed.

so the silencer is empty no filtering stuff in there if i just bypass it there should not be a problem,I cant check it for cracks etc without removing it whick may crack it in the process.

As the name suggests it is just a silencer. Removal will have no detrimental effects apart from an increase in compressor noise. Well that is what I have been told .Just turn Cold Chisel up a few notches should counter it!
