    Front axle ball joints??

My 2004 D2 has a tendency to track depressions on the highway and gets a bit nervous and twitchy at times. It gets particularly scary at 100km/h on bends with the camper on back, a bit like the rear is squirming. It feels a bit 'rolly' too. 2 inch ARB lift all way around less than 3 years ago. Replaced the sway bar D rubbers back and front. Poly bushes in the panhard and new bolts. Made some difference. Watts linkage is ok. 265/70s if I remember rightly. Bridgestones on the front with 70%. Steering box does not need adjusting. Wheel alignment all good. New damper fitted. Most would say it is likely to be the swivel tension, but D2s have the ball joint set up. I was wondering if this might be the problem and how to test?

Shockies not old? They can make a car behave strangely and make it twitchy / unstable. Also cause it to 'track' or ' tramline' Worn balljoints should show up as having play in them, jack up a wheel and move the tyre by hand, haveing some 1 do that whilst you look under is handy Any excessive lightness to the steering?
    Cheers Scott

    Front ball joints

jack up front of the car THEN use a bar[large ] under each wheel and leaver it up and down ====you will see where the movement is. Buy your ball joints from England and get a LR mech to fit they are a real bugger on your own

I reckon castor angle is out. Mine is the same. That's what makes it twitchy. Due to the reduced angle the tiniest movement in the steering wheel ( or bump steer from the road) is amplified.

I have superpro castor corrected bushes to go in.
I'm going to by a supercrap workshop press today to do the job!

Sounds like that might be worth a look in but I like the idea of genuine LR bushes. I don't remember the vehicle being this twitchy when I first got it. With the camper on it was feeling like a swaying ship. My 1988 V8 110 is lifted and is as stable as a rock with the camper on.
