advice required/de-oiling ecu harness
Gentlemen, and others.
I have been gleening info on the oil in harness on my TD5.
I have bought a new injector harness and rocker gasket.
I have been looking at descriptions of oil removal from the ecu harness.
QUESTION 1. Do I remove the harness from the car to de-oil it? If so, how do I get it out. do I have to cut it out of the conduit and do I have to remove the battery box to get at it.
QUESTION 2.. I have been thinking down the lines of fitting a strip terminal somewhere, God knows where exactly and cutting the harness soldering both sides of the block and soldering each wires to "bootlace or ferrul terminals . If it is soldered , surely it should stop the oil.
My major worry at the moment is removing the oil from the harness enough to solder . I have been using contact cleaner which is I hope fairly inert.
One more thing ... Am I causing any loss of continuity or any other nasty?
You descriptive comments would be very welcome.
Regards Nick

you will need to seal the new harness plug with oil resistant sealer [under the rocker cover] I was told not to worry to much about the oil in the harness as I will inspect it a few months apart and clean whatever residue is left with contact cleaner so I wouldn't stress to much about it im far from an expert though [ had mine replaced a short time ago]

I just did mine last weekend... Replaced injector loom under rocker cover, followed posts on this forum...
I soldered all the plug wires (5 x 2wires = 10 solders) silicon with "Permatex Ultra Black" all plugs,(this means all the connectors after opening up the plug, and the top of the plug) then the wiring conduit entry points and inside the conduit to seal the common wire that loops between each plug)...
then remove the cover on the cannon plug, fill this with permatex and seal, refit the cover, also seal the wires entering the plug.... leave for 24 hrs to dry before install... Not hard, great advice on this forum.
