    Snorkel install

Hey Guys, I refer to this excellent thread:
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-t...l-install.html

I managed to get a good used Airflo snorkel. The fitting will be pretty much the same as for a Safari.

Question. The main airbox has a water drain in the bottom. As the snorkel must allow some water ingress whilst driving in rain, what potential problem will this cause if I silicon/block the drain hole up? Do I need to block the drain at all?
I'm not sure how long driving it deep water it would take for water to rise in the air box through such a small port !

Any advice as to what you have done?
    Thanks

We've just had a similar conversation in the Defender 110 section of this forum. Check out some of the advice there.

I was concerned about incoming water after just having a brand new Safari snorkle fitted

The word is you wont get much comming in and thats from guys hear in Darwin where rain is rain.

If your still worried, just turn the hea around when its bucketing down.

My box is fully sealed but I haven't seen any rain yet to test it.

    Happy Days.

I had the same thought after fitting my Mantec snorkel, I just found myself a very strong clip, of the type you see holding papers in an office, large enough to clamp the duckbill shut, just clamp it on before attempting a deep crossing. Not sure if it was necessary, but it gives peace of mind. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I sealed the hole by cutting the thumb off a thick pair of rubber gloves, and stretching it over the outlet Every month I take it off, and its surprising as to sometimes its half full of dirt, but usually theres nothing. Had the snorkel on for a couple of years.
