    D2 Roof Rack what options?

    hello Together,

Do you have any suggestions in regards to a Roof rack for my D2?

I came across this one on ebay not sure about it's quality.

Does someon on here have a rack for sale?

    Thanks

    Steve

I come across one supplier in Victoria selling some quality roof rack, I personally think is the best price for what they selling. Unfortunately I didn't get it due to the freight is more expensive than the rack. I'm pretty sure they sell it via eBay too... Try type Aussie part...

For practicality and quality I would go rhino bars, accessory bits and maybe a platform.
Unless you get a voyager rack.

$650 seems very reasonable and they have 100% positive feedback

When we went to the 4WD show on the weekend, we ran into a bloke who had a D2 as his display vehicle (hence why we began talking to him) and he comes to you and installs roof racks / internal shelving units etc.

In terms of roof racks (open or closed ended) for a D2 full length, supplied and fitted (onsite) was $690...the sample seemed quite secure and he's a disco person, so that's where we we're going to be looking.

The website is: OffRoad Systems 4WD Storage Solutions - Roller drawers, Fridge Slides, Cargo Barriers and the contact details are Mark Jimmink 0438 112 312 (well that's who we spoke to at the 4WD Show).

    Don't know if that helps...

Thanks for that, I came across them a couple of times on the various shows never saw a D2 though.

Sounds like a reasonable price wondering whether that maybe is rack I purchased via eBay? I think $650 for a aluminium rack is a pretty good price (if the quality is okay) I will keep you posted.

For $650 I would definitely save the hassle trying to weld one up myself... Reason for not getting one is due to the bloody freight from Vic to Mount Isa. Anyway I have ordered some alu tube to weld one myself... So far material cost around $220, $150 for 8 x 11" bracket... So I would estimate end up around $450-$500 for a full length 2.2mx1.5m. Aluminium rack is definitely the go as the weight is only 1/3 of steel but welding aluminium required skill or plenty of practise.

Anyone interested in welding their own rack I can supply them a complete drawing with cultist.

I got a Hannibal rack for mine. Just finished a big trip around the center of Oz, rack held up really well. Had roof bag, maxtrax and extra spare wheel up on the roof. All alloy, light enough to lift by myself, clamps nicely into the gutters.

I was tossing up between the Hannibal and a Pioneer platform from rhino. Ended up deciding on the Hannibal mainly due to it being welded together.

    Cheers,
    Nova
