LOL I like that question, when we follow cars up the southern cutting coming out of town we do turn it to recirculate so we do not get the smell

No overpowering perfume, just a nice clean smell when done.

My understanding of the recirc button is if you press it it beeps 7 reverts to fresh air after a few minutes, if you hold it in until it give a double beep it stays on recirc (until you stop the car - when you restart it you have to do this again).
Happy to be corrected if I've got it wrong

    You are half right.

It works in opposite ways depending if you have the air con set to Auto or manual/economy. If its set to auto it works the way I described. If it is set to manual/economy it work in the way you've described.

I run the aircon on auto 99% of the time. You obviously use manual/economy.

Checked recirc/fresh air damper/flap and actuator by removing glove box.
Found flap and actuator opening and closing but not shutting tight allowing fresh air to enter.
Unplugged wiring to actuator and removed linkage then closed firm with coathanger wire.
Works a treat in keeping dust and bush fire smoke out of the cabin.
Cant see any adjustment to tighten flap closing?
May need to renew foam gasket on flap?
    Thanks
