Disco 2 1999 V8 lots of misfires on one bank

					Hi,

I am having numerous misfires on the left hand bank and am wondering if these could possibly be caused by the O2 sensor on that side failing, this is a recurring fault seen in the Nanocom.

Could this also be the cause of shuddering in top gear (auto) when accelerating between 80 to 100Kph. I do not see any faults in the transmission section of the Nanocom and I have just replaced the front shaft and rotoflex trying to clear up the shudder.

Thanks in advance, sure hope someone can help.

 Regards,

 Ray

Coolant contamination will wreck O2 sensors quick smart. Pull your plugs and look for rust around the end of the thread.

Would think O2 sensor unlikely culprit. Clear faults, swap 02 sensor with other side and re-test.

I'd guess go leads (less likely but cheaper) then coil pack.

Only replaced the plugs about a month ago, no rust marks on the old ones, also have had indications both the O2 sensors are on the way out for longer than that, just kept putting of replacing them because of the cost.

It could be leads, just weird that it's only the four pots on the left hand side acting up and the right hand side has zero misfires on all four.

Will have to get a set of leads asap and try it out.

 Thanks for the info, regards,

 Ray

Swap the senors around, easy job. (I think the connectors are the same!)

Remove front cross member, unclip sensors, big spanner (21mm?) to undo them. Should be all done and back together in half an hour.

Going to take it to Peninsula Rangie in Frankston on Friday, I tried getting the O2 sensors out, couldn't get enough of a grip on them to undo them. Cracked the s#$ts with it all.

 Thanks to all.

Now have the correct Bosch O2 sensors, the ones that were removed were of an incorrect type fitted sometime in the past.

The Disco is now running real smooth again, only vibration/shudder is from the crap roads around here. I had a very good idea it wasn't a coil pack as the packs are shared between the two banks and all the misfires were only on the one bank, left hand side same as the dead O2 sensor.

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
