TD5 coolant leak at fuel cooler

Hi All, sorting out some minor problems with the recently re-registered D2.

I had a fairly drastic coolant leak but that seems to have been the overflow tank cap not coping with any pressure at all. I put another cap on and it seems to have fixed that.

Now I am down to just a minor drip from the fuel cooler. The same thing is covered in Urban Panzer's site here www.discovery2.co.uk - Leaking Fuel Cooler Fix

My question is, has anyone done this and know the size of the o-ring and where to get them? North side of Melbourne would be great or online. Just trying to get the new o-rings before I pull it apart.

I must say that the pink coolant is a lot easier to spot leaks with!

    Thanks
    Bernie

Viton Rubber BS225 I think from memory.
Spring for the Viton ones, otherwise you'll be doing it again in 6 months.

Shows how much I know about o-rings. Will go and google now and see where I can get some.

A decent engineering shop should be able to get them in for you.

Thanks Disco Muppet, even though I was reading it, I didn't get that that was the size I needed until you repeated it!

I do get there eventually though

See if you can track down a pair of clic-r pliers for the clips - you are welcome to borrow mine if you like.

Trying to use normal pliers as per Urban Panzer is a recipe in frustration. The clic-r pliers make it fairly straight forward to replace the existing clips.

Hose clips are ok in a emergency - but they are an ugly bodge as a permanent "fix".

    Cheers

I would agree with the special pliers, took me forever to get the old clip back in place.

I used a good quality screw clamp either end. The screw clamp will give a better clamping force.
I don't intend to enter my vehicle in any concourse de elegance competitions where it would be judged on originality.
I would hardly call this a bodge besides half of the spring clamps on the rest of the engine have been replaced with screw clamps.
