    wheel dilema

    Hi All
I have 2004 D2 TD5 and have 2 slightly out of shape rims the stock standard 16*7. I need to put new tires on the car as the rubber is getting a bit low and due to the doggy rims they have flat spots. I have been searching to find replacement rims but have not had any luck the alternative is to put a set of 18 in rims which seem to be be more readily available. The car is stock standard would I need to have adjustments made to make the change to 18's.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am running out of rubber on the current set and would prefer not to put new tires on the doggy rims.
    Cheers Keith

The 16" rims should be fairly easy to get also, cheap also.

18" wheel increase the cost of tyres by a fair bit. The 18" wheels should go on without modifications though. They did come with longer steering stops but I don't think you need them.
    Cheers

I would echo that, the 18's really limit your tyre choice. I stayed with 18's because that was what was on the vehicle already but would not be going to 18's if I already had 16's. Have a look at wrecking notices in the markets section I think that there was a D2 v8 being wrecked with alloys available.

    thanks guys
I have been trawling the net and this site without much luck on the 16's but have found a few 18's and am aware of the tyre choice and cost factors I don't wish to change to 18's unless there is no other option
It is a case of which option comes up before I run out of rubber.

There's heaps of options in the standard offset (both aftermarket and second hand sellers)! It's only when you start looking for something a bit special that the options quickly reduce!

You could always just get some Dynamic steel wheels to suit if you want cheap new wheels and aren't too worried about the look.

Keith, would help if we knew where you were. There are good LR wreckers in most states and good rims seem to retail between 100 - 150 (often with tyres on. Yes usually cheaper via here etc eg I got 5 tyres and alloy rims for $450.
So, say where you are and you'll get some responses.

When 'trawling' the net did you see these (only about 6 sets of 16's on eBay )

    Discovery 2 Wheels | eBay

    Or the markets section here:

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyr...-2-alloys.html

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyr...els-tyres.html

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyr...-standard.html

    That's about 10 sets in 3 minutes

If none of them suit you how about call triumph rover spares in south oz? Or call discovery spares?

It's going to be easier for you to buy a complete second hand set of matching wheels (they won't match your current wheels, but the new set will all match each other).
