    Wiring up engine saver

    Hi Everyone,

The D2 came with the engine saver somewhat installed. The sensor was missing, but the wiring is all in place.

However I'm completely stumped with regard to how to connect it all back.

If you look at the two photos, the first one shows the engine saver buzzer, the write that is connected to the car and what I think is a "spade" connector that I'm holding.

I thought for some reason that the other side of this connector would be inside the cowling around the steering wheel near the key, so I pulled it off to check. Blech.. it was dirty in there!

Anyway, while I was awkwardly positioned with a light in my hand I thought I saw where this may connect to in the fuse box, that's the second picture. If you look at the S13 slot, there's a pin sitting up, the spade connector fits it perfectly.. so I'm wondering, is this possible?

    Thanks,

    Peter

I have just purchased and installed one of these for my 300 TDI.

    Instructions say:-
Connect red/black wire (presumedly the one in your hand) to fused supply that switches on and off with ignition. Black to ground which is correct going by picture. So assuming male connector in fuse box meets the requirements, ie fused supply on and off with ignition, that's the one.

Test it with multimeter, ignition on 12v, off zilch. Couldn't be easier.

    Easiest way - google add-a-fuse.

Mine goes straight into that one marked S13. My LR mechanic helped wire it up & has always worked (2 yrs +). It does now, however, keep going off until I have driven a couple of k's. I don't know what would cause this & don't know if I need be concerned. I assume it's an air problem but don't know why. Off to the mechanic I guess

Yep, that's what I'm going to do, tested it the other day. I just need to put the sensor in and I'm done!

Try taking the probe out & cleaning it. Mine started to do that, & the probe had black "stuff" on it, probably caused by me not having the required amount of red " stuff" in the water, because I'm going to change my hoses soon, and don't want to spend more than I have too , until I have to. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
