Have you thought about fitting one of these instead - Ashcroft Transmissions - Td5 Heavy Duty Torque Converter - totally changes the feel of the vehicle!
Not quite sure where to post this, and its not my first post on this subject, but here goes.
I'm still trying to find the missing link in connecting (if possible) a torque converter lockup system as available from Wholesale Automatic Transmissions in Vic (see link below).
My initial motivation was that I do a lot of km at light throttle at 70 kmph and want to be able to lock up in 4th gear, rather than rev at 2K. Potentially there are also significant low range and engine braking opportunities if I can get it all working.
The problem is that so far, no one has been able to connect the system to the correct wire in the under passenger seat ECU, and in fact some gurus here in the west question whether the system will work on D2 4HP22 electronic auto trans at all.
What I am looking for is to identify the correct wire in a 1999 D2 ECU.
From my convoluted and only partially understood research, I suspect that the following applies
BOSCH AUTO BOX GS8.87.0 - Pin Outs
Details of the pin usage for the ECU connector(s).
Pin 32 Solenoid valve 3
Solenoid valve 3: This reading shows the current state of the solenoid valve 3 drive. This valve controls the torque converter lock up.
Given that all the diagrams I have looked at don't specifically identify solenoid 3, can anyone identify/confirm which wire the Vic experts are looking for to connect their system to the torque converter lockup, and if possible the ultimate would be the as yet not located wiring diagram.
System involved can be followed up here Wholesale Automatic Transmissions
Cheers Gavin

Hi Gavin Have fitted one to my discovery 2.The kit comes with instruction its works, but only 3 & 4 gears for towing, all gears for braking Chris

Hope this helps Chris
So Chris,, are you saying it wont unlock in first, engine braking, coming down to idle?
(the V8 will unlock/idle in first from around 35kph)

Hi Pedro It has not unlocked on me yet when braking but will watch my speed next time ,it will stall the motor in 1st gear going uphill Chris
Its lockup in all gears, but only use it in 3rd & 4th for towing otherwise you will stuff the torque converter clutch
If you have a look at the kit it isn't exactly rocket science.
The kit inserts a relay into the lockup solenoid activation line. In one position the signal from the ECU is connected to the solenoid, in the other a fixed voltage is connected to the solenoid.
If you manually lock the solenoid it won't unlock automatically under any circumstance until you flick the switch off. The site actually warns that you need to turn off when coming to a stop or the engine will stall.
cheers
Paul
I like it and so another mod for the Disco "to do" list
I dont like the toggle switch though - i'd go with a push / pull switch or a floor switch (aka old high beam switch) which i think would be much better in a panic situation.

Its not rocket science. the kit has 2 relays Chris
