I dont like the toggle switch though - i'd go with a push / pull switch or a floor switch (aka old high beam switch) which i think would be much better in a panic situation.

I'm not that fussed with the switch either. think I'll be fitting one with a bright red LED to show when its on. Chriis's points about stalling/stuffing the TC are right on the money.

I find it difficult to believe that they could not find the appropriate underseat ECU wire/s when I was having the unit fitted in Melbourne. Oh well, one of the west gurus will put me right.

As promised in a previous post, I'll give some more feedback once I (a) have it working and (b) had a chance to test it out at low throttle 70 kmph cruising, engine braking etc.

You could always tap the wire in behind the window switch panel. There is no reason why you'd need to make the connection at the ECU.

If I'm reading RAVE right the lockup is the SO (Slate with orange trace) wire on pin 6.

These sound like they make the disco much better at modest speeds and when accelerating

wondering are they available in Aust? - as the exchange process described on the website sounds tricky and freight costly??

and what they would roughly cost to fit ?

I need to upgrade my 2001 D2 td5) LT230 TC to add CDL internals / CDL lever...and do my front driveshaft anyway

thinking might do the whole lot?
    cheers

Nobby, you can get the Ashcroft version, plus some local auto trans shops do their own which I have been told is something akin to the V8 one. I have the latter ex Perth and very happy with it.

Ashcrofts are simplicity itself to deal with. I ordered a HD converter and drive plate from them and 1 week later it was here! All done via the website and a few emails. They were very helpful and answered all my silly questions easily! All up with freight it came to under $900. But the dollars lost a bit since. and forget doing the exchange, it costs more than the refund in freight!
    Cheers Scott

I had a new Low Stall Torque converter fitted & cannot recommend this enough, transformed the way the TD5 drives, fantastic.

Fluidrive also do a custom low stall TC with bearing upgrade & billet stator, the spline upgraded from TC to trans.
Stronger Wider surface on the lockup clutch to

Saves dealing with OS, its been great, TC cost $850 plus fitting
