    Blatant Advertising...

    Came across this ad from 2004 recently on youtube. It appears to have been posted by the Advertising company that did the ad for Landrover so video is reasonably good quality.

    too me it looks like it was over it's fording depth to that the manual says. I wonder if the CD stacker survived the crossing?
    Dealership "sorry no warranty as you exceeded the recommended fording depth"

    Customer " but your add shows Les driving it through a river"

    On stock size tyres and 16" wheels the wading depth is about halfway between the hub and the upper edge of the rim - 13cm above the hub centre. The few times you can actually see the water depth it's lower than that.

    They seem to have used the bow wave to give the impression of greater depth.

    I remember that ad I rarely saw it on the normal commercial channels though SBS ran it a lot! Must have thought a "Better class" watched SBS or it charged less.
