Does your cruise control disengage when you push the clutch In?
Hi all,
We have an '01 TD5, manual, stock standard with about 300k on the clock. Over the past little while it's been flaring on gear change. Not all the time, but does seem to be getting worse. Any ideas?
Cheers

I agree, its 99.9% going to be your clutch switch.
There is a switch in the hydraulic clutch line that when the clutch is depressed, cuts the engine revs straight away for ease of gear changes.
When this switch fails, the engine holds its revs momentarily when your foot comes of the accelerator pedal. This feature is to minimise transmission knock caused by sudden decelaration.
On facelift cars its mounted onto the master cylinder, and of prfacelift cars its tee,d of the hydraulic line close to the master cylinder.
If you dont have cruise control, ( or diagnostic gear ), then just whip the plug of the switch and check for continuity whilst depressing the clutch pedal.
Sorry guys for not getting back, for some reason the system didn't notify me of replies.......... Anyhoooow, it WAS the clutch switch, new one from the UK arrived quick smart (thanks Rimmer Brothers), installed in about 10 minutes, and problem completely solved. Thanks for taking the time to reply - this really is a great source of info
Cheers
Matt
