    Sound Systems

Just wondering if people have pictures of their stereo setups in Discoverys? I'm thinking potentially upgrading my stereo by having a flip-up head unit in the front with some subwoofers in the back, just wondering if anyone else has done this before?

G'day Capt. I have a 00 Td5 with a similar setup that you are thinking about.

I run an Alpine screen, connected to 2 amps which run the speakers (upgraded Alpine ones but in factory position) and also a single sub which is mounted in a moveable box in rear.

This Alpine system is also connected to an iPod.

I have had the car since new and this was the first thing I did - from the outside you would think the in car audio was still stock if you didn't know better.

As this is my first post, I'm still trying to figure out the whole attachment thing - I will get some pics up ASAP.

I just pulled my Sub out on Friday because we are about to go camping,

I run a pioneer mechless headunit, im yet to install a alpine V12 4 channel amp to run speakers, and am currently looking into what speakers I plan to run,

as for Sub, I found Rockford Fosgate make a box with a 12" sub and 300w digital amp, I paid about 550 by memory, it does not sound like the typical prefab sub and amp things, it really does sound like a proper sub/amp set up.

to make it more easly removable I have just used a Anderson plug on the power wire/ ground, and a smaller plug for the remote wire, although with this sub set up you can tell the amp to turn on with imput voltage from the rca's or speaker level input so it does make installation a little more simple if you want it to be.

ill try to remember to take some photos when we are back in a week or so

+1 for the Rockford Fosgate great sub had mine 8 years now or so, most of what I have was bought when I was at uni with very different priorities. Doubt any of this will make it to the 110 as a great stereo is a little pointless with a 4bd1 rattling away in front.

    My Disco has

4x mbquartz(these have apparently changed manufacturer now tho) splits powered from a 400W Alpine v12

2x12" Rockford Fosgates powered from a 600W 2 channel V12 all contained in a box that can be removed for camping with easy

I had an alpine head unit (114Bti I think) and some G series component speakers front and rear in mine with no amp. I found that once I set it up on the head unit properly I could live without a sub. It would have rounded out the sound a bit more but given that I'm generally doing all my driving with the family nowadays I wouldn't get to use it's potential that much.

I've just stripped it out to sell the D2 so if you want some door speakers with just 6 months use PM me for a deal.
