Hi, just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. My 99 disco td5 is running rough, blowing white smoke and the smoke is also coming out the radiator overflow bottle and has a rattle aswell. I'm expecting it to be bad but can anyone tell me what the issue could be? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated

Head gasket, and/or cracked head. Combustion gasses are finding their way through the coolent ports that run around the head and getting to the high point (overflow bottle). Coolent leaking into the running engine cylinder will burn and leave white smoke, hopefully its just a little and significant damage hasn't been done, if it's tons of smoke.....not good.

i would pay close attention to piston heights when you get the head off, it may well have a bent conrod due to hydraulic lock
