    Speedo Recalibration C1600

Many thanks to Steve223, Offtrrack and Slunnie for previous posts and information

I tried to obtain a TruSpeed unit without success.
Built and fitted the Jaycar unit, it didnt work.

    Purchased a Ratio Interface Unit C1600 for $125 + $15 freight from:
Hunter Di Spare Parts Company 37 Millett St Hurtsville NSW 2220
    Mob: 0413 813 698 Email: hunterdispares@yahoo.com.au
    Fax: 02 9594 7447

Fitted the unit and adjusted the 'Dip' switches and it works!
The Dip switch combinations allow a very fine adjustment, the auto transmission changes are now back to seemless operation and the speedo is correct.

Originally fitted 33" Mickey Thompson MTZ 285x75R16
Changed the diff ratio to 4:11 when I fitted the front & rear diff locks
I will post photos when I tidy it all up
Used the Pink/Green wire from the Slabs ECU as the input to the C1600 Brown wire
Pink/Green to Body ECU? to the C1600 output Blue wire
12vdc Ign to the C6100 Red wire
0vdc to the C1600 Black wire
C1600 White alternative Input wire not used
The unit comes with a wiring diagram and ratio to Dip switch table
    Regards Ollie

Good to hear of another option.

Can anyone with a truspeed or C1600 with a manual gearbox confirm if cruise control still works?

I think I have read somewhere that as the engine rpm and now modified speed signal dont match cruise will not engage. Or is it a case of wiring into the bcu to speedo wire? I'll be honest I havn't looked at the wiring diagrams yet

If anyone with a manual gearbox in the Brisbane area wants to try this C1600 let me know and we can test it

That's correct re the cruise control. I think if you wire between the BCU and the dash there would be an odometer discrepancy which will cause the ODO to flash, indication there has been an ODO tampering.

I didn't even think of that, but reckon you could be right

Looks like I'd need a re-gear to get the rpm right and the C1600 for the speedo to get cruise to work.

What was wrong with Land Rover using a transferbox speed sensor like the TD5 Defenders on the Disco

    True!

But in reality the ABS sensors made cable drive speedos redundant and they needed an electronic signal for a heap of other technology in the vehicle like SLS, ACE, ETC, the auto transmission, HDC etc. It'd be interesting to know however why the manual loses cruise control with a corrected speedo.

But the TD5 Defender uses an electronic speedo, but gets the speed signal via a transducer in the transferbox.

The manual Disco will be programmed to know that X rpm will equal Y speed, if this is different it will assume there is something wrong and shut cruise control off.

On an auto the torque converter will not be locked all the time so slip is part of its normal operation and is allowed so cruise still works.

    That's my understanding anyway.

Ordered one yesterday. Hopefully here before the weekend so I can install it. My 35's throw the speedo out way too much. I have a manual and 4.12s so I hope cruise comes back as well. My main reason is the Speedo though.
