possible AFM issue causing converter and trans issue??

    Hi there,
I have just got the disco registered on friday. Took it for its first long drive sbout 450km round trip.
Ive had the trans out and put a seal kit though the pumpbecause it was leaking alot of oil.
Now when cold its holding first gear until i hit about 4000 rpm. When the cars warm shifts normally. The other issue is the converter locks at 80 kms hr but when i hit any incline or just want to accelerate the engine rpm will increase by 3-400 rpm. For example i will cruising along at 100 doing 2200 rpm come to a hill and the eng will rev to 2600rpm maintaining the same speed. When i get to the top i take my foot off the throttle and the eng is back to 2200.
I have done the stall test and couldnt get the revs over 2750. I have also fitted another second hand maf (unsure of condition) and it didnt change in any way. Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Michael.

They drop out of lock with heavy accelerator on hills and relock when you ease off to help with climbing.
That is , if the transmission IS locking.
You should be able to hold lock down to around 70KMH by keeping the accelerator depression small on hills and letting the speed decay a bit.

The cold holding of first is more of a worry as in a mechanical ZF , it is a sign of a sticking governor and indicates a rebuild in the near future. I don't know how that equates in an electronic one. Maybe a sticking solonoid.

The MAF sensor does effect the trannys behaviour. Faulty and Non-genuine MAF's can have a negative effect on the transmission.
