Welcome to the forum Pete. Yes they do get to you don't they.
G'day,
Just joined and thought I'd jump right in if that's ok.
I'm a bit of a LR tragic of sorts. Bought a beat up old '92 Defender in 2005 and I've never looked back. Learnt a lot of bush mechanic work with that one. When all else's failed she still keeps chugging along. Also had a little old series I for a while which was a bit of a hoot but the fuelling was an issue.
Bought a '97 Def in 2008. Nearly drove me to distraction with fuelling issues before finding a loose fuel hose connection at the tank switch solenoid/gizmo. Sold it due to being gun shy by then but regret it.
Recently had a '97 SE7 Disco and I've never enjoyed a vehicle more. Unfortunately it also drove me to distraction with an intermittent starting problem. It would be fine for a while then out of the blue it would be dead when you tried to start it. No click, no turn over, nothing. Go away and come back hours later or the next day and it'd start fine. Caught the wife out one time too many so it went.
Now I'm back in the market for another car and I'm drawn to the buggers in a way that's probably not healthy but what can you do? They get under your skin.
I've got a few questions in relation to the pro's and con's of a D1 versus the D2 (TD5) but I'll save that for a later date.
I live in a valley outside of a town called Bellingen in NSW and cross a river to get in to my property so the LR's have great in that sense. Awesome 4wd capabilities and tough as old boots. Well, some anyway.
cheers.
Pete.

Have driven a lot of 4wd. Never wanted just a 4wd, but a Range Rover. Got one, now got a TD5, as the v8 too old and thirsty. They get under your skin; their quirks you just grow to accept (and love/hate?)
Welcome to the forum. Hope you find the info you require to get your new ride. Ask away, some always knows the answers.
Cheers, David.
My Land Rover has made me a better Mechanic........
D2 TD5 Manual, CDL, Detroit Rear, Truetac Front, 2" OME lift, 32" MT Tyres, ARB Bull Bar, Winch, TJM Roof Rack, Driving Lights, Dual Batteries, ARB Side Steps, Rear Draws, Uhf.
That they do. They have that whole 'flawed genius' quality about them. At least, that's what I tell my self when I'm dealing with the 'flawed' bit. cheers.
