    Locksmith to key D2 key to D1 barrel

    hi all;
    I've read up on switching the ignition barrel as mine is starting to get stuck at times. Ive read about the graphite powder and while I don't doubt it I would rather switch it out for piece of mind.

    I bought a new Lucas D1 ignition barrel from the UK (about $75 landed) with keys but would like to use my original d2 key as opposed to using 1 key for unlocking and 1 for starting.

    So my question is does anyone have any recommendations for getting the barrel keyed to my existing keys in the Melbourne/western suburbs area? Cost (as long as not over the top) isn't an issue if the jobs done properly.

    Thanks in advance guys.
    cheers; Trev

    Hi Trev,

    I experienced the same issue with sticky wafers. I had a lock smith recondition for the like of a word the existing barrel. It only lasted a short time. I thought I would replace my barrel but when I removed the barrel you could tell which wafers were causing the issue and I removed these two or three. Put everything back together and haven't had an issue since. Maybe if you keen try this, and see if it works. Then sell the D1 ignition unit.
