    telstar muddies?

    Hi all

Looking to get some muddies for my d2, have looked into federal couragia's (was going with these until I read about sidewall splitting issues), hancook dynapro's (which are no longer made) and the telstar mudclaws, found reviews on the others but not the telstars. The mudclaws are the tire shop recommendation made in usa out of coopers from memory. The bloke recommending them used to work with my dad so I cant see him shafting me, hes had good reports from the people hes fitted them for, just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with them.

    Cheers scott

If you cannot find any reviews or information on them online then I would suggest they are either very very new (which is unlikely as wouldn't be around in Australia yet then, they'd probably first concentrate on establishing themselves in the USA), or they're not really a common brand.

You say they're by Coopers, but why then would Coopers not put their well known brand on them and help sales through their built up reputation?

What sort of price range are they?

Personally, I think stick to the more common larger name brands that you can purchase at multiple different locations. There's a reason why they're still in business.

    Buy cheap, pay twice...

I would advise you stick to known gear...

Here is their web site: http://www.telstartire.com/About.aspx

Seems they use multiple suppliers so what you get could be made anywhere...

From the pricing I've seen so far, I'd go with a known brand.

Just because a manufacturer may be a big player, the tyre may be specced lower in construction spec.

Ive been quoted $300 per tyre, for 5 in 265/75/16.

I have looked on their website but couldnt find any reviews by actual 4wders on ths or other frums which is why im hesitant on them even though I know the guy, thought id see some opinions from people on here.

Cheers for the replies so far guys

For that price I'd be looking at these:

Excellent tyre, Japanese rubber isn't as prone to chipping either.

Hold well in the wet, and not intrusive noise wise.

You can get them $245.00 each (local store matched when I rang)

Be warned, Maxxis are a great tyre - little slippery on wet bitumen but their wear rate is high!

I just bought 4 brand new BF Goodrich All-Terrain's for $290.00 each in larger 285 / 75 R 16 size. Have a look on eBay, there's a few very competitive suppliers on there.
