Britpart Harmonic Balancer- Any good?
I have a 2000 born TD5 Discovery and recently noticed the squeak when turning off. Has anyone put on a harmonic balancer made by Britpart and happy with durability etc. I know that some people have had bad experiences with after market supplies, but sometimes genuine parts although good are priced like designer clothes. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

You sure it is the balancer? My TD5 squeaked on shut down, changed the drive belt, squeak gone.

Thanks for the longevity input and I think for $30 I will change the belt. I had the belt off recently to change alternator so it may just be that! Cheers everyone

Hi Sunova
Had similar probs recently.
Pay a bit extra and use a Conitech drive belt. It has a patterned outer face that provides extra grip, and hence prevents sliippage.

The belt slipping on start-up/shut down can also be attributed to the bearings in the tensioner pulley and/or idler pulley (non-ace).
Pulled my idler pulley last week and the bearing was bone dry. Checked the tensioner pulley and it is also pretty much stuffed, belt is chirping on start and stop.
i changed out the bearing in the idler, but I haven't got to the tensioner yet.
Harmonic balancer 'seemed' ok.

You did well. Broken idler pulley is the reason i have a britpart balancer
