He stated the obvious that there a old tech engine and liked using a mineral oil rather than a fast flowing full synthetic better suited to more modern engines.
As Justin stated a easy city life of idling around with A/c on, probably hasn't done it any good.

Well after arriving home I checked the mileage of the last oil change and I was very happy to find I was mistaken.
Looks like I'm using 1 lt every 5000km.
I must be enjoying driving my disco more km than I realise.

Mine used to use about 1L per 5000. Then my mechanic told me not to use the 5W/50 the handbook says as that's for UK conditions. Started using 15W and now use about half a litre at most, prob slightly less. Much less oil on the driveway now too! It used to almost run out of it!
