Airbags to coils
Hey I know this has been discussed and yes I have searched but I'm tossing up changing from airbag rears to coils. It's due for new ones as when parked it squats down to bump stops. One side better then the other. I'm assuming it's only one with the other one going down to level it. As it will tow a trailer is it Better to stay with air or go coils

Hard to go past the airbags for load carrying and towing. They always stay level, even when the weight is increased. The remote to lower and raise them is also handy for hitching up.
The airbags aren't that expensive to replace and getting them out and back in is pretty easy job. Best you do it before you blow the compressor (which is much more expensive) from overworking it on inflating leaking airbags!

Go springs I had air bags on my D2 they let me down in the middle of no where yes the ride may be slightly better but springs wont deflate leaving you on your bump stops. I put heavy duty Dobisons rear springs in haven't looked back you need to get a dealer to turn the air bag side of the computer off other wise the squeal from the buzzer will drive you mad .

I just towed a 2.2 t caravan with my D2 with SLS. Can't beat it for towing. No need for WDH, just hook up and go!

I don't know.
I am in a well known NSW club for land Rovers of various types.
It seems to me from reading the club magazine trip reports and discussions at meetings that on just about every long trip that may have more than a couple of Land rover models with airbags that one will have a failure that will spoil their trip, and nearly always they cannot get it fixed except in a state capital and even then it may be a problem.
The latest was an L322 that threw a wobbly half way to Broken Hill and they had to leave the group and go to Adelaide where TRS were able to fix it. In fact it turned out there was nothing wrong, the computer had just thrown a wobbly. I think that is even more infuriating . I do not need that type of thing.
I would love to have a fancy suspension but the down side of a spoiled trip is just too common for me.
Coils forever.

I am convinced that the best set up for the D2 having driven many and owned mine since new is Dobinson Springs and Bilstein shocks and coilrites or similiar for load leveling. Simple, effective and excellent handling and ride.
Cheers
