Changed the springs today good result
Since I have owned my D2 I have always thought that the front particularly is too low, as the bump stops are pretty second hand though it had never been off road. Strangely the back bump stops are pretty pristine even though I did one trip to Brisbane fully loaded and towing my Camp'o'matic.
I am not interested in having the car so high the caster is gone so I think the ideal is about 40MM in the front and maybe 50 in the back.
I had an old set of RRC 1992 rear "green" which are 160 Lb and about 16.1 Inches long. these are the same as LRA "green" I called LRA and he told me that they fitted the RRC springs to D2 with no problems even though the RRC springs are ground flat while the D2 front springs have a pigtail. In fact the contour is about the same.
The rear springs are Kings KKR2 medium duty and are handed which I bought second hand from an AULRO member..
These are the results
Front Right before 480MM after 525
Front left before 485 MM after 525 ( strange this as the OEM right is longer than the left while the greens are = length)
Rear right before 480MM after 525
Rear left before 480MM after 530
I don't have a bullbar but do have a 130AH second battery in the normal battery cradle. LRA said if I had a bullbar I would probably need
"pink " springs for the same result.
The ride now is IMHO much better as the front doesn't crash into potholes and the rear feels the same, as it should as the KKR2s are only 0.3 MM thicker than the OEM rears.
The front will lift about 10MM when I attach the Camper trailer so I reckon its great.
