    Alpine HK stereo "no cd"

Hi I have had this message for about a week. I need to drive to Brisbane on Boxing Day and keen to play cd.

I have removed the cd holding cassett and it is full. And up the correct way I have removed the fuse 16 and 17 that should be for the stereo. Power cut to the amp and sound stopped but it still had power going to the head unit as I was trying to reset it without disconnecting the main Battery.

    Any other tips?

    Cheers Matt

Also radio doesn't seem to seek stations very well. It is fine when you know the frequency and do it manually but it can't find stations itself any ideas?

Might be a stretch, but remove the CDs and give them a good clean...I've often found just a simple smudge and the unit won't play with it...
As for the radio, this is often a signal strength issue.

Try lubing the cassette with a Teflon spray, this worked for me - for a while. However this type of fault was the beginning of the end for mine. If a CD gets stuck, you can take the changer out from under the seat, pull it apart and free up the mechanism to extract the CD.

I took this as an opportunity to modernise my music to digital form, and storing it all on my phone/iPod. Bought an after market device for about $150 which has bluetooth etc and plugs directly into the back of my radio where the cd stacker plug used to go. The steering wheel controls even work with it, cannot remember the name of it right now but it is mentioned in the forums here.

After converting all my cd's to MP3, I now have my whole cd library to choose from to play music in the Disco. Bye bye clunky cd's forever.

If it is like the Eurovox unit in my 02 D5, it usually means that the Laser has become weak or died of old age.
Eurovox does a reco unit for $210 plus freight AFAIR , but you can get a Pioneer with all bells and whisles , bluetooth , Icontroller, etc for about $175.

    Hi
Just check the RCA voltage on the JVC unit. Did this with mine and used a couple of head units, a JVC and a Pioneer (I think) much better sound with the JVC which had higher voltage RCA output. Believe around 4 volt where the other was 2volt.

Made up the RCA output to ISO Adapter and installed the JVC. Radio works a treat.

No CD Mech in this HU. Changed Sauce to USB, Front and Rear and it pick it up finds the first Track, tells me the name of the track and there is no audio coming out. tried the Mute and unmute with no change.

    Any Ideas?

    Cheers

New stereo radio reception is pretty scratchy as well. Any tips on freshening the earth on the antenna in the rear side glass?
